Today’s Good News: Maine Fights Brain Drain, Helps Pay College Debt

Progressive States Network gives a tip of the hat to the great state of Maine.  The Maine House of Representatives unanimously approved a bill that would provide loan repayment tax credits to college graduates who remain in Maine after graduation.  The State Senate had supported the bill in earlier votes, so the law looks likely to move toward enactment.It’s the first such bill aimed at ALL college graduates.  As usual, grassroots groups helped make it happen, including a red-hot new group (formed in 2004) called the League of Youth Voters.
