Today’s Good News: America Says It’s Time For A Third Party
I cheered when the news came on the elevator in the building where I work. In a recent USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, 58% say the two major parties are doing “such a poor job” that a third party is needed. Just a third say the established parties “do an adequate job of representing the American people.” Most of USA Today’s article about the poll is typically idiotic, assuming that “third party candidate” means “presidential candidate,” and mostly discussing non-candidate Michael Bloomberg. However, it does quote an expert on how the American system is “structured against” third-party success, and quotes another saying “People know the system is broken.”
43% of those surveyed in the new survey identify themselves as independents — significantly more than call themselves Democrats or Republicans.
Do I need to tell you there IS a viable third party? It’s the Green Party, and they are holding their annual convention this weekend. Check them out here.
